I posted a similar topic earlier but never came to a conclusion.

This is my full system spec

FX-8320 with CM Hyper TX3 cooler @ 3.5ghz(stock)
Gigabyte 970A-DS3P
8GB RAM > Mustang I think, 1333MHZ
Corsair CX750M PSU(I think this might be my problem)
1TB Samsung HDD
Sapphire HD 7870 2GB DUAL-X (stock speeds)
Cheap CIT Mars case recycled from an old build.

This PC worked perfect when I put it together about a week ago for one day and then the next day the PC wouldn't turn on. I was playing DOTA 2 for about 5-7hours(Long session since I just fixed my broken PC or so i thought)

What is the most likely cause?

I know my Mobo isn't great but it can run this processor at stock, I checked with others on toms first.
I know the PSU isn't great but it's what I had and I didn't think it'd fail running this spec.
The RAM cards I have no idea about them but I don't think they'd have randomly died from one day to the next surely? They worked fine for 2years.

The Motherboard,Processor,GPU and PSU are basically brand new.

The GPU/PSU from november, originally with an FX-4100 and Gigabyte 78MT-S2P mobo.
Upgraded to 970A-DS3P in January due to a problem with my games keeping crashing/PC random blue screen and decided to upgrade to an FX-8320 whilst I was at it.

I think the PSU has failed as this may have been what was causing the crashing in the past but what do you think, should I RMA the PSU?

Alright, Just so I don't make an idiot of myself.

The CX750M should be able to power this system, right?

Since I've never returned a product could someone help me out?

Yes, 750 W. should suffice for this system, just not a "CX" model. Any other Corsair series, XFX, Seasonic, Antec, etc. would be good.

Just contact the seller and tell them that you need to RMA (Return Merchandise Authorization) for the PSU and that you want to change to a different model.

Would it be possible to do that? I purchased it from Amazon.

yeah, I've learnt now that the CX units aren't great hence when helping with builds here, I always suggest an XFX alternative as they're usually very similar priced.

I purchased this unit: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Corsair-Builder-Series-Modular-Certified/dp/B00ALK3QRS/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1392741243&sr=8-1&keywords=cx-750m

Do you think I could ask them to send me this unit:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/XFX-PRO750W-Edition-Bronze-Certified/dp/B0045L4BJ6/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1392741271&sr=8-1&keywords=XFX+750w ? Seems like It'll be good enough.

I'm willing to take a smaller one as well if they won't do a 750W I'm sure a 650W will power this system too even a 550W

Even if they send me another CX750M, It should last longer than this one surely.

Apparently the CX750M cannot be returned however, it was under 3years warranty so at worst I should get another one from Corsair?

I have found that Amazon USA customer service is second to none. I can't speak to Amazon.UK but in the USA they are very accommodating.

How long since you made the purchase?

The XFX one that you linked to would be an excellent choice. I would hate to see you have to get another CX from Corsair.

I purchased the CX750 in November.

Worked fine for the combination of FX-4100+7870 but seems to have not liked the fx-8320 I purchased in January.

Do you think it's worth sending Amazon support a strongly worded email expressing how disappointed I am in the quality of the product that Amazon sold me or something along those lines?

If I do have to send it back to Corsair do you think it's worth asking about an RM 550 or GS 800 and paying the difference?
I mean I haven't even OCED my 8320 or 4100...

I don't know if Amazon will RMA something from that far back, but give them a try. You may be stuck with the Corsair RMA or just biting the bullet and getting the XFX.

I would do some more troubleshooting before assuming it's the PSU. The CX line is Corsair's budget line, but they aren't terrible. I would shift your focus toward your RAM first. Can you post the model number for the RAM? Have you tried booting with no RAM installed to see if you get an error beep code? If you do, then I would try each stick of RAM by itself to see if a stick of RAM has died.

Did you update the motherboard BIOS before updating the CPU? Did you check the idle/load CPU temps? Have you reset the BIOS? Perform all the steps in this troubleshooting checklist before sending the PSU in for replacement. I actually doubt it's the PSU...

I can't afford the XFX haha, I'd have to suck it up with a CX750M or enquire if I can pay the extra £10 for the RM 550.

I've tried everything on that list except for the CMOS and Only 1 RAM stick approach.

I will try those, thank you.

CPU Temp was 55-60under load.
Bios did not need updating, Like I said it worked perfectly fine for 1day.

Both options are worth exploring in order to find a solution.

If you ask them to RMA it you can get promotional credit that will give the same price of the 750M to apply to the XFX 750W PSU.

Have you considered clearing CMOS, updating BIOS?

Have you tried booting with one RAM stick at a time?

How come you can conclude that it is PSU? BUMP

I would suggest you to unplug/uninstall every thing. Take your mobo out of the case. Put it on the bench. Install the CPU, one RAM and nothing else and then connect the PSU and give it a try.

Cleared CMOS.

Tried one ram stick at a time as above, Bios is latest version.
unplugged/replugged everything

Have not tried motherboard out of case/breadboarding or whatever that is.

I've also tried with a HD 6770 instead of HD 7870 and still nothing.

I don't "KNOW" it's the PSU though, I'm working on assumption of "Most probable"

CX series is an average series but not that bad particularly when it is 750W. If you can arrange a PSU or take your PC to any service shop and have it checked with other PSU, it would be much helpful.
