My alienware uses too much ram

Hi, i just recently purchased my alienware 14 (5 weeks ago)
Specs:
Intel core i7 4700MQ @ 2.4GHz with built in intel hd 4600
16gb 1600mhz ram
NVIDIA GeForce gtx 765M
750GB hard drive with SSD caching (i disbaled and installed the os onto the ssd)
64gb samsung msata card

So when i bought at idle with barely any programs running it used something like 2-3gb but when i booted up and tried to run my minecraft server my system ran out of memory, so i troubleshooted and found out that my system was using 11.6gb at idle with just the drivers running and alienware command centre also with razer synapse. i booted up in safemode and it was still using like 10gb of ram at idle, my OS is Windows 8 64-bit and my boot time is around 5-4 seconds.

Any fixes for this? because i really need that ram (im a ram monster)

There is something wrong with the ram quantity your laptop is using. I am not sure how to identify it, maybe if you ctrl+alt+del -> Task Manager - > More Details and check which applications are consuming so much memory we could troubleshoot it.

Just so you know, I am using an FX8350/16gb of ram, with e-mail, office, browser windows, and I am not even past 4gb of used ram...

I did that and i added all the megabytes that the apps and processes are using and it only added up to only about 3gb (yes i am that desperate)

I know that since that is a new Alienware 14, this may sound dumb, but, can you ensure that your system's OS is 64 bits ? ( Windows + E -> Right click with your mouse - > Properties), there should be it.

Another thing maybe the seetings you set for the server... I am running out of ideas :/

the server runs at 8gb of ram which worked fine until this issue happened and yes by system is a 64 bit system otherwise it wouldnt be able to use the 11.6gb or the 16gb

Right now, without the server running, it still displays 11.6gb used ? That number is still the same even if you reset your computer ?

Malware. Usually if you have large amounts of system resources being used, but not showing up in processes through task manager , you probably have some for of malware with a rootkit involved. The rootkit blocks your ability to see it operating, including it not showing up in a task manager or process list. Get a/a better malware removal program. Malwarebytes has a termed, free version that is excellent and is one of the industry leaders. It finds malware other programs don't. It is also the best anti-malware program for being able to be installed on an infected system, as many trojans involve programming to prevent anti-malware installation. Good luck.
