okay so i'm looking to buy this computer for dayz and upgrade the processor soon after but I was wondering what is the best amd fx line processor i can upgrade to that would be both compatible and fit the 650 psu limit. I assume that the fx-9590 would need a bit more power?

Best "FX Series processor" for what? Gaming?

It's hard to beat the FX-8320 for price performance -- it's gone as low as $130 at the Egg, and MicroCenters have had them in-store for $100.

It's more the MB than the PSU. There is only 2-3 motherboard that will work with the 9xxx FX chips since they need 200w just at the socket alone.

All the rest of the FX chips though should work in any AM3+ motherboard. What motherboard do you have, and what chip now?

Actually if you have access to a Micro Center the FX-8320 is your best bet as it's currently available there for $99. I just picked one up yesterday as the price was too good to pass up.

Yeah you definitely can't beat $99 for a CPU of that quality, especially since with a mild overclock you can get the exact same performance as an 8350. It's cheaper than the FX-6350 (which I was originally set on getting) and it's cheaper than the A10-7850K. I'm definitely planning to overclock.

I have the 8320. With no voltage increase, and only multiplier I was able to hit 4.1-4.2ghz stable and that was on a crappier board. Once I go a better board with better VRM's and up'd my cooling, I can hit 4.6 no problem fully stable. I'm sure I could push it further with hours of tweaking and crap to hit .7 or 4.8, but I'm happy where I'm at. It is a great chip and at that price, good to jump on.

Obviously the best overall is the 9000 series since they are faster, but the heat and power they need and since only a few motherboards support them, coupled with the 4x the price of a 8320, they are not worth it.

Actually, with water cooling, my 8320 can go faster than I've seen most 9590's go...

edit: maybe I just have a great 8320 I dunno...

Still say save your money and get the 8320... AND a good motherboard. Don't skimp on the motherboard, you will regret it!
