Hello,

I have been pulling my hair out trying to decide on my next monitor. It is getting quite frustrating. So far, I have tried the BenQ rl2455hm, the Acer H23HLbid and the Asus MX239H. The only one that I really liked, in fact I loved the picture, was the Acer H23HLbid. The only problem is that it is a glossy screen. I have a pretty big window to the right of me and it reflected everything. I just could not keep it. If I had a room where I could control the lighting, I probably would reconsider that monitor...but I cannot. The other two just did not cut if for me.

I need some serious help, please. I am at my wits end. Here is what I need to have:

1 HDMI
1 DVI
1080p
IPS
8 bit panel
23-24" (I would really like a 24", I think)
Budget: $225-250 - cannot go over the latter and would like to stay under it.

I should also mention that it is going to be for gaming and web development/photo editing.

I think that is it.

Can any of you knowledgeable people help a brother out in his time of need?

Thank you in advance for all of your help, advice and suggestions. I would greatly appreciate it!

Yes, I think that would be a great monitor. The only reason I did not buy it is because it does not have a DVI connection. I mean, I have a DVI to HDMI connector, and it will work, but I have been reading about a problem between HDMI connections and Nvidia cards. I guess it is not picking up the full range of colors. If that is the case, I would rather just have a DVI input connection. Other than that, it looks like a great monitor and I would not mind having it. Have you heard anything about that?

Cool. I was a bit worried about that with this, and all other monitors. I think that it is between these two:

Asus VN248P
Acer H23HLbid

The Acer is glossy and the only reason I would be opposed to it. I am afraid that the anti-glare, or matte, on the Asus may be a bit "grainy".

What do you think?

I myself prefer the Asus because it is more reliable than Acer

What do you think about the whole glossy versus matte thing?
