Where do the i5 and i7 performances meet in terms of useful performance for value?

For example is a i7-4500U useful power worth paying that much more than an i5-4200U?

I think for laptops intended for gaming, you should go with the i7, they are quad core. As far as I know, i5 mobile series are only dual core. So four core i7 will be a substantial performance addition.

FFor general works, like browsing, etc i5 would suffice.
