I have a defective SSD as Drive - C which read and boots but can NOT we written to. I have now purchased and installed as Drive F an unformatted Samsung 840 120GB SSD which I am attempting to use their MIGRATION software - But, I can't install the software becuase it DOES NOT install to anything other than C-Drive (which can't be written to).

You sir, are mistaken, I have done this many times with Clonezilla and it works fine. Please don't give answers if you don't know what you are talking about.

I do however agree that you really shouldn't clone a broken drive. You never know what you will get that comes off the broken drive.

Never ever clone/migrate a defective drive. Besides the fact that migrating different size drives will be problematic, you will always carry problems onto your other fresh drive.
If anything, install a clean OS/software into your fresh drive on C, then slave the other to pick up important data. Good luck!
