I'm building a new PC and I'm looking for opinions on which build to go with. I have 2 picked out so far and I'm just trying to see what build others would go with. Personally I'm a AMD guy but I've heard good things about this MSI motherboard. I don't want to stray to far from what I have picked out, but I'm open to suggestions. Anyway, here are the 2.
-No. 1 ($695)
*MSI Z87M GAMING LGA 1150 Intel Z87 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 Micro ATX Intel Motherboard
*Intel Core i5-4440 Haswell 3.1GHz (3.3GHz Turbo) LGA 1150 84W Quad-Core Desktop Processor Intel HD Graphics 4600
*GeIL EVO CORSA Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory
*MSI N660 Gaming 2GD5/OC GeForce GTX 660 2GB 192-Bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 x16 SLI Support Video Card
Or...

-No. 2 ($642)
*GIGABYTE GA-990FXA-UD3 AM3+ AMD 990FX + SB950 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX AMD Motherboard
*AMD FX-8320 Vishera 3.5GHz (4.0GHz Turbo) Socket AM3+ 125W Eight-Core Desktop Processor FD8320FRHKBOX
*CORSAIR Vengeance LP 16GB (2 x 8GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory
*XFX Double D FX-787A-CDFC Radeon HD 7870 GHz Edition 2GB 256-Bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFireX Support Video Card

Thanks!
(P.S. If anyone knows of a decent HD monitor for a good price, that'd be helpful too)

If this is for gaming then build the AMD. Cut the RAM to 2 x4 gig , and spend the $100 or so you save over the cost of the intel build to get a better graphics card

Ok, thanks. What would you recommend for a graphics card?

You can probably afford an R9 270X or GTX 760
Depends on the games you want to play and the resolution of your monitor

I was kinda considering going all out and getting a R9 290x. Any opinion on that? And I was probably gonna get a 24" HD monitor. I'm getting a good bonus this year so I'm ok with going a little crazy

Graphics cards have become so powerful I think you only really need top end hardware when you have a monitor of higher resolution .

If you can afford it sure , but you pay a lot for rapidly diminishing performance increases .

On the other hand I'd love to have an R9 290 running my gaming
