Hi guys, I am wondering if I should get a PS4 or upgrade my PC. The specs are the following:
i5 2500k
AsRock P67Extreme 4 gen 3
Gigabyte GTX660ti
Seagate 1TB black drive
600W corsair GS power supply
My question is how long will this PC last for gaming(I play the newest games on 1080p) and is it future-proof. If it is, should I get a PS4 instead of upgrading it?

I would never suggest getting a console over upgrading. Imo your best bet to future proof your current config would be getting a 3570k or 3770k if you have a decent budget and getting a gtx 770, then youd be way ahead of any next gen console in every aspect

nothing is future proof.

Wait for a price drop or some AAA exclusives. Paying $60 for multiplatform games that look better on your PC is not worth $400 if you ask me.

you get way more bang for your buck getting a PS4, because upgrading is going to set you back some money. There is one problem with PS4. No games. There are no must have games right now, and won't be until the end of the year. It might end up collecting some dust whereas upgrading your PC, you will have a massive set of high end titles you can jump right into , like Metro Last Light, Crysis 3, Diablo III etc....

looking at your specs, you should be able to run the latest games on ultra high settings. I dont thik you really have to upgrade. If you really want to, you could drop $150 for a Radeon 7870 and really boost performance, but honestly, doesn't look like you need to.

Buy a 7870 isnt a preformance boost from a 660 ti at all. Even a 660 comes close to a 7870 in preformance and 660 ti is more powerfull than a 7870 thats bad advice

Or you could save up $100 more and shell out for a 780, should last you well for a pretty long time

That 660 Ti is more than adequate for the next year or two, you could wait for the higher end Maxwell cards to hit as well

And yeah, the 7870 is slightly weaker than a 660 Ti, that'd be a downgrade

No need to upgrade that 2500k either, just get a decent cooler and overclock it, and it'll be great paired up with a high end single GPU

oh my bad, i guess I missed the ti part of the 660. Yeah, the TI is much more powerful than the 7870.
