Hi guys,

I have read quite a few of the threads regarding this subject and havent found an answer yet.

I am running an nvidia Geforce GTX 260 graphics card on Vista 64.

I currently have the HDMI cable connected to the desktop and my TV and I am getting video, but no sound (Trying to play Game of Thrones to get the gf into it!)

When i go to Control Panel > Sound > Playback Devices - there is no HDMI audio option to select. I have right clicked and checked both boxes for disabled and disconnected devices but it still doesnt show up. I have tried both installing the newest driver available from nvidia, and uninistalling the driver and allowing windows to find one on a reboot - neither have worked. Any advice would be greatly appreciated - the PC is coming pretty close to learning how to fly out of a 4th floor window!

Have you got the HDMI Audio enabled in Nvidia itself? Unless you have the audio patch cable from the GTX 2xx to your motherboard, you will not get any audio out of ANY GTX 2xx series [nicked that from another forum btw].

Check if the Nvidia driver are all up to date and that the audio drivers are enabled.

Thatvietguy - I tried to install that separately and it came up with an error message saying "The NVIDIA Setup program could not locate any drivers that are compatible with your current hardware. Setup will now exit."

I3LiNdSp0t - Im not sure how you go about enabling HDMI audio in Nvidia - also this audio patch cable - tell me more. Its possible i forgot to connect a wire or something when i built it

I3LiNdSp0t - i just read something on another forum speaking that mentioned about having 2 options - HDMI - HDTV audio enabled or disabled when selecting which device through the Nvidia control panel. currently i only have one option and no choice - so that leads me to believe that i havent connected something with my hardware, especially with what you said about an audio patch cable.

Can you tell me how to fix it and whether i will need to buy any extra cables for internal use etc.

Thanks for your help so far guys!
