I purchased my mother a Gateway computer and decided to tweak the graphics a little , so I bought an Nvidia GTX 650 TI video card I installed the card and could not get the monitor to come on at all. I did some research and found out that this card requires a minimum PSU of 450 so I bought and installed a 550 Modular PSU with the necessary 6 pin power connector for the GTX 650TI. The monitor still goes to sleep and the computer is not recognizing the Card any Ideas or suggestions would be appreciated..
Her system is a Gateway DX 4375G
AMD A6-5200 Quad Core CPU
6 GB of DDR3 RAM

I guess I could try that, but it is like the system is not seeing the card at all. I hook it up to my system and the display works even w/o the drivers installed.

The display works when plugged into the card or the motherboard? The graphics card will always work before you install drivers. The problem usually comes when you have a conflict with the installed drivers for example the wrong or corrupt drivers. Try running this driver sweeper just follow directions first go and download the most recent drivers and re install after the sweep. After you do the sweep go into the bios and make sure you turn on the pcie slot. I am assuming you were using the integrated graphics before normally that means it is set to IEG in the bios. The location of the option in the bios is usually called (Integrated Peripherals)

I uninstalled all the old drivers and checked BIOS , there is not an option for the PCIE slot listed. The Display works when plugged into the Mobo but still nada from the Video Card...

Here are some steps you can try:
1) Update UEFI to the latest version.
2) Ensure the GPU is getting power.
3) Some monitors do not feature auto switching of input ports. If you are using a different input on the monitor make sure it is set to the right input otherwise you won't get a display.
4) Try the GPU in a different PCIe slot.

And what motherboard are you using?
