I just recently bought a gtx 780 sc and a corsair h100i watercooler. I have an i7 4770k and 8 gb of ram. I only have a 120gb ssd for now until i can purchase a larger hard drive in a week or two. My issue is that now that i have installed these two components, i get constant crashing in games and blue screens. (IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL) was an error code I most recently got just browsing the web. I have my overclock set to 4.3 ghz and it appears to be stable. But maybe i installed something wrong? Also now my motherboard won't download any new drivers such as the new google chrome driver. It simply "failed" when attempted. but for casually browsing the web, everything appears to be alright?

I built this thing for gaming, and i can't even open my games anymore, I reinstalled windows this morning and reinstalled steam, but I'm still having most of the same problems, except i have more internal memory to work with. Anyone have an idea of whats going on?

I also am not able to get onto the gigabyte website through their url, I suppose that could be the problem, or maybe its just me.

You don't run memtest inside Windows. You download the Precompiled Bootable ISO and mount it to a disk. If you don't have a burning suite then here is a great free tool.

http://www.imgburn.com/

Then in BIOS make the DVD/CD drive first in boot order and boot off the disk. It does not run in Windows because Windows always reserves some memory that can't be checked.

Overclock appears stable based on what? 10-12 hours of Prime 95 and at least 3 or 4 passes of IBT? That's generally my criteria for assuming a safe overclock.

Set everything back to stock. Set the memory to the specified voltage, frequency and timings. If it still crashes run memtest for 10-12 hours to make sure it's not bad memory. The IRQL error speaks to bad memory or memory errors.

So I set everything to stock, but only 1 worker works is running. All else stopped within seconds. Meaning..?? lol literally, it just doesn't run prime95. Do i have to download something else or do something in the bios?

Reset your CMOS either with the jumper on the motherboard or by removing the battery on the motherboard for 15-20 minutes. That will reset BIOS to factory settings. If it still will not even get into Windows try a single stick of RAM at a time.

You have 8GB of memory.......You have an 120GB SSD for storage. The 120GB drive formats to 111GB. Is your SSD full??? You do know that 20% of an SSD needs to be kept as free space for TRIM to work correctly right? So of 111GB you need to keep at least 22GB free. And that you need to optimize your system for an SSD by doing things like changing the pagefile size and turning off system restore and hibernation to name a few.

The SSD is not causing (IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL) errors though. That is memory. Memory is RAM ( Random access memory ) not an SSD ( Solid state drive ). An SSD is just a solid state hard drive.

I reinstalled windows, because yes I knew that, i wasnt sure why I had so much storage space used up. Currently i have 75g of free space. How do I test to see if my memory is working in prime95? i just tried to run it after cleaing the cmos and my comp crashed and restarted. I have 2x4gb sticks of patriot ram which are 1600mhz

You test overclocks with Prime. You test memory with memtest. Run it overnight and even a single error means a problem. Make sure the RAM is set to it's factory specs before testing it though as I said above.

http://www.memtest.org/

If you cant get that far try removing a single stick at a time to see if one is completely bad. Also as I said above.

could the issue be with windows 8? When i run memtest, i cannot allocate anymore memory to it. I get an error message saying windows 8 wont allow it. If i do plug in a number manually, my system crashes.

so, took out 1 stick of ram and i'm now able to run prime95 without any errors. When i replace this stick with the other 4gb stick, i am not able to get any workers running. Could this be the simple issue??! Have my dreams of having a working computer come true?? haha

Ok so 1 stick works every time and the other stick does not work at all? If the RAM is configured in the BIOS with the correct speed, timings and voltage then you have a bad stick. One last thing to do is check and make sure that the working stick works in all the RAM slots and that the dead stick is still dead in the other slots. That will rule out the motherboard.

Bad RAM is the cause of the majority of new build problems that are not the result of a power connector not plugged in or other new builder error. When it's a legit hardware issue RAM and hard drives are always the first place to start.

so with my supposedly good stick, i was downloading assassins creed 4, and i receieved an error message that i needed to close other programs because i was running out of memory. I eventually did crash with a bsod. I was able to get 30 minutes on prime95 with the 1 stick also though which is lightyears further than previously 'not' being able to run the program. I do not have a cd to run memtest yet, so that's not an option.

You are running a legit copy of Windows right?

Power supply make and model? Actually a full list of your components might help. You still have not confirmed your RAM is set to the correct specs.

I'm at 1 hour without an error. This is Great, in another forum, people said that this stick might also be dying because it did give me an error message to close programs because I was running out of ram. I later froze as a result. I'm exchanging my ram tomorrow I have patriot l600 mhz ram, any suggestions to switch to or was this just the luck of the draw bad stick?
