I've recently started experiencing a sudden performance decrease out of my GPU. I'm running an EVGA GTX 780 SC, with a conservative overclock (in addition to the factory OC). The problem started occurring with The Witcher 2 which I picked up recently on Steam. Sometimes I'll be playing and the FPS will suddenly drop from 60+ to probably around 20-30. When I check power draw in Precision X it has decreased significantly, and my GPU clock maxes around 535mhz. If I close the game, and go into any other titles, the GPU clock remains limited to 535. The only way I can seem to fix it is a restart and then everything is fine. I've started the game up maybe 20 times since I bought it, and this has occurred 2 or 3 times, and has always occurred in the first few minutes of starting the game. I've checked temps and during a normal, problem free run of the game, and all is great. GPU never above 60, CPU around 40. What really baffles me is I can run todays cutting edge titles, all maxed or nearly maxed and never have experienced this problem when running those games, so I can't imagine my equipment is being stressed with Witcher 2. My OC on the 780 is on +90 on the chip, +190 on the mem, and again, temps are always fine. Any ideas?
