I've been trying to solve this problem for ages, I do not see what problem is. The only problem I suspect is when the computer connected directly to the router is playing a game. The connectivity on all the other wireless devices drop, laptops, phones, smart tv. I know it seems obscure that one computer can ruin the whole internet connection, but I am unable to find a solution to this conundrum. Would anyone have any advice on what I can do? I know this is a broad topic and I can provide anyone information I need to elaborate on.

Have you re-booted to router lately (disconnect the power if you have to)?
I would suspect the router before the system. They don't last forever and I have had to replace mine about every four years or so.

Your router may have some traffic prioritization going on as well that would explain a 'small amount' of the degraded performance elsewhere.

Make sure that you have an up to date anti-virus solution in place in case some malware is also at work.

Additionally, if you have a relatively slow "high speed internet" connection, then the game could be consuming the majority of bandwidth available to your household.

Lastly, check speedtest.com to see what kind of service you are getting compared to what you are paying for. You may need to take the issue up with your Internet Provider if you are not getting what you are paying for.

I have the Hitron Technologies CGN2 bought from rogers, I have heard negative reviews regarding this product, I have had it for the past year, would replacing the router help at all?

All computers have a standard anti-virus installed, AVG and I do not know if this is the issue but we have been experience lag ever since we've had the router, up and downs, but I would like to know other possibilities

Sounds like it might be time to give Rogers a call and ask about replacing the unit.
