This is my first build here and I'm having trouble with the graphics card. I got a evga gtx 760 when I download the nvidia drivers for it my computer will boot up the win 7 start up screen then 5 seconds later it will just shutdown I have no clue what to do, as far as I can tell everything is hooked up correctly and is compatible

My build is
EVGA SC gtx760
EVGA 600b bronze 600 w powersupply
M5 a97 r2.0 mobo
fx6300 processor

As this is my first build I'm surprised I've gotten this far honsestly! Please help asap. I've tried everything I can think of and haven't seen any similar issues. can provide ppics to show y connections if need be

Will the system run for more than 5 seconds under any conditions? If not, take a look at the CPU mounting, it may not be tight enough or perhaps you forgot to remove the protective film from the cooler base or CPU prior to assembly-it'll take about 5 seconds for an uncooled CPU to overheat and force a shutdown.

1st off... Don't Panic!

If you have isntalled the downloaded drivers and it is not staying on, then try to boot in Safe Mode [F8] and get rid of the drivers or if you have a restore point, use that.

You managed to get Windows on, so that's a great start of a new 1st time build.

Okay so I've brought the drivers back to their windows default and moved the grapics card to a different slot just in case, still can't get 5 secs without the dang thing restarting, could it be the bios? I really don't have a free flashdrive to update that.

The fact that the PC shuts down is because you don't have something installed correctly. My guess at this point is the motherboard, you may have a grounding problem with the motherboard. The shutdown is the motherboard way of protecting itself from damage and a ground problem will cause failure if not corrected. Double check that the motherboard is on the brass stands and that it does not touch the case at all. If that is good then check for heat issues, check for the thermal paste on the processor, check the fans. I would say it is the motherboard.

You said you downloaded a driver how did that happen if it shuts down?
