General question about the PSU

Recently I built a PC and right out of the box, I received a bad/defective PSU, the Corsair RM1000. The computer worked for the first week I had it built and then just randomly, while I was at work, it died. I was curious if it was actually the producer that gave it to me bad or could it have been me? I was just idling on my desktop all day. I had played 6 hours straight of BF4 maxed out with no issue before? I'm just unsure whether it was really the producer that gave it to me already bad. The computer is now in the shop to make sure none of the other parts went bad because of the PSU. Is it possible that they did go bad or does Corsair hold a good rep with bad PSUs not ruining other parts?
Thanks!

A company can have the best rep in the universe but this type of stuff will continue to happen. And it does to a lot of people. Just send corsair a email with proof of purchase and they should talk to you about getting a new one.
