I have the AMD A-10 6790k APU, the Asrock FM2/FM2+A88x Extreme6+ Mobo, and G.Skill Ares series (2x4GB) DDR3 2400 RAM. My question is, will the 1866Mhz memory supported on the APU be the limit for my memory and motherboard that can theoretically reach 2400Mhz+?

No, you can overclock and manually set to higher frequencies such as DDR3-2400, but you will need to increase some voltages like CPU-NB / APU-NB Voltage to give the memory controller a boost to support the higher speed. Once you input the proper settings, the system will be stable. Let us know if you have any further questions or problems.

Thank you
