I've had a bit of a nightmare today.
Specs: Gigabyte Z87 UD5H, OCZ Vector SSD, WD 1tb HDD, 3570k cpu, corsair vengeance ram, seasonic 850w PSU,

woke up and tried to turn on the computer. Black screen with "please select a boot device". Turns out my SSD has malfunctioned and died. It was an OCZ vector. OCZ's boot tools cant even recognize it when it's connected.

undeterred, i tried to install ubuntu onto the remaining HDD which had no OS on it. while installing Ubuntu, my keyboard stopped working. I switched the which USB port it was connected to and it started working again. completed the installation and the keyboard continued working for approximately half an hour. Then it stopped working completely. Switching ports did not help. Rebooting did not help. Nothing helped. The keyboard does not even work in BIOS anymore. I tried another USB keyboard and it also does not work. I do not have a PS/2 Keyboard. My USB mouse, however, does work. I got into the bios via the CMOS reset button on my mobo and tried fiddling with the USB settings but nothing will get the keyboards to work.

Im getting incredibly frustrated, has anyone experienced anything like this?
I'd appreciate any and all imput.

The age of the components really doesn't matter if they were in any way faulty from the mfg, though I understand that it's disappointing to have it happen months later instead of immediately after first intall. If it's just USB keyboards not working, then try testing that specifically, try getting other keyboards to see if they work, try the the PSU tester idea and check the 5V rail to see how that's working; less typing, more troubleshooting :)

I can't imagine this being anything but a faulty motherboard or one damaged by a bad PSU. I wouldn't think that a Seasonic unit would fail so hard as to fry other components, but you never know. You might want try several things like maybe getting a cheap 1150 motherboard to test your components in, getting a PSU tester to check if your PSU is delivering proper voltages, and maybe check to see that your motherboard and/or standoffs are screwed in and making proper contact, maybe it was just a short that fried your components. Not much else to do but try those basic steps and report the results for further advice.

Everything was working perfectly yesterday. The motherboard still works, the HDD still works, Ubuntu works perfectly as well.

The only thing that doesn't work is the keyboards and the ssd.

The entire system is less than 4 months old.

Tried testing it with another USB keyboard, no dice.

I do not have a PSU tester and it would likely take days to have one shipped to me.
