Hello, i have an 8400gs GPU, it's pretty old but it was enough for some games, today i tried to play Gta 4, since it suited my requirements i thought it would be good to play on my computer, but it lags horribly, also i tried to play battlefield 3 but it lagged even more, i had my settings to the lowest settings possible but i was still getting 16-25 average frames.
Is there any way to fix this.

My specs are:
Windows 8.1 pro x64
amd athlon ii x2 220 2.8ghz
Geforce 8400gs 1gb
6gb ram
Thats about it.
any help appreciated.

Your hardware is outdated. The best way to fix your problem is to upgrade your cpu and gpu. While this may not be idle you can get a significant performance enhancement for about $300. My suggestion is to purchase a new motherboard, something like the ASRock 980DE3/U3S3 AM3+. Then for your cpu, I would go with the AMD FX6300. This is a 6-core processor which will allow for multitasking and gaming. Finally to upgrade your gpu. Go with something along the lines of an AMD 7790. It will provide you with smooth frame rates while maintaining decent settings.
