Sudden issues - Newish build.

Hey everyone hopefully someone can help me out as to what's going on. My build is fairly new around 2 weeks old, and up until 1-2 days ago it was running fine.

The way it started was that the computer randomly shut down and I got the Asus message regarding power surge with the psu, this happened quite often after that. Then shortly after running intel burn test for a while on normal settings (which passed), running Mdsched.exe to test the ram (0 faults found) and running crystal disk info and seeing no problems at that point with the ssd I am confused as to whats going on. (Have not tested gpu)

So, what I did was disable the Asus surge protection thing from the bios itself, reverted all over clocks and put everything on default settings.

However since then I have been getting (Frequent) random reboots, no blue screens though, also a couple of times some fans (not sure which ones - maybe gpu fans? I really can't tell) will spin super fast and then the system will go into a weird reboot mode. One time this happened windows automatically went on to try to repair my C drive (ssd) which I thought was strange (this was before I started to monitor my ssd/hdd using crystal disk). So now I'm thinking it MIGHT be the psu since I have nothing else to go on but I really don't know..

-UPDATE: This morning I heard a loud pop/bang in my room which woke me up, now my pc wasn't switched off at the back but I'm not sure it was the psu. Shortly after it woke me up I went to the pc to turn it on and the motherboard gave me the code 00 and would not post (it also double booted), after this I unplugged everything and checked inside all seemed fine, I plugged it back in and now it boots fine? I'm seriously so confused.

Seems like a motherboard issue. Im not sure what the loud pop was, but you may consider unplugging your pc. I wouldn't use the pc until I knew what was wrong as it could pose a fire hazard. You should be able to check your handbook that came with the motherboard to see what the 00 code means, as it is different with all manufacturers. Sadly you may have to go through the process of RMA if you are not able to fix this problem. If you do end up having to return your mobo, just make sure to put the piece of plastic back over the socket to cover the pins as asus will not accept the board back without it.

Hmm I do fear the same, but since I posted this my pc has been on and stable from what I can tell so far, I was thinking about buying either a psu or the same mobo again but since it really is hard to tell which one has gone wrong I am not sure of which one to buy again since I rather not waste money on an already working component. Do you not think maybe when the Asus power surge protection was triggered it was accurate? or is there not much of a chance for that?

With regards to the 00 code apparantly means its doing a power cycle at cold boot

I have the voltages set to auto in the bios maybe there might be a problem there?
