Is it a bad time to buy a mid 200s GPU?

It seems like prices have risen for most of the cards in my price range, and with some new cards coming out, should I just hold off a few months to build my PC? I'm in no hurry.

It's really just a bad time to buy any radeon r9 card due to inflation from bitcoin mining. If your not in a hurry then by all means wait and see if those cards will come down in the near future. In particular the soon to be released r9 280 which is supposed to retail at $250 sounds amazing, but it'll probably not sell at that price here in the US. If you get tired of waiting though a gtx 760 at $250 is still a great option. My friend has one and he is quite satisfied with it.

Well I am kinda in the middle of the same debate myself, I am going to wait a month at the most to see how the Nvidia's Maxwell equivalent for GTX 760 is gonna be, if it's about the same price and consumes less power I am going to go for it, I suggest you do the same. From AMD's perspective ,the rise in cryptocurrency mining has increased their prices an awful lot so they are out of the question for now.

AMD R7 and R9 are overpriced for what they provide because of all this cyrpto currency who ha.

Nvidia is probbaly going to be releasing their 800 Series Maxwell very soon, since we just got the Black TITAN and 750 Cards.

If this was just a architecture refresh, id say go ahead, but since Maxwell is a new Architecture, Id wait for the release of the new series.

Maybe we'll get some AMD Price Drops, and with Nvidia, you'll have a new architecture that wont be out of date in a few weeks/months. xD

My personal Opinion
