I'm replacing the hard drive in a Dell Inspiron 1210 and have a new drive the same make and model as a replacement.
This is a Zif drive using the flat mylar type ribbon cable plugging directly into the drive. The problem is that with the old drive the cable plugs in with enough friction to make the connection secure. With the new drive the cable is loose enough to fall out. It's like the drive connector is a few microns too wide even though the replacement and old drive are the same make and model.
Has anyone seen this before and is their a solution?
