CPU Spike while playing demanding games

Can some one tell me if there is a way to lower CPU spike when playing games(COD, NFS, Battlefield etc). RAM usage always remains low

I have already done all sanity checks of clearing any apps running in background, minimum app when restart. I just wanted to know if there is any app that helps lower CPU utilization when playing games.

my PC spec
Intel Core I5 2400
8 GB RAM
AMD Radeon 6770 1GB DDR3
3.5 TB HDD(OS on internal HD & Games installed on external WD HDD)
Coolermaster 650 W SMPS

Please let me know if there are any tips I have missed out and if using a CPU cooler make any difference.

your complaining about seeing high cpu usage when playing demanding games ? I must not be reading this right lol

You could always turn the game off, or lower your gfx settings, that would stop it.

Software/Drivers
its the latest but is one of the recent once. I do play the game with high graphics, there is no problem with the game it runs smoothly. Its just the CPU utilization is almost a 100% whenever I play and I am worried it might burn out soon :(

Going in task bar and reducing the process priority for eg: from "real time" to "high" utilization going down but then the games starts to lag...
