My PC boots up and once I log in there comes up a message about word not having enough memory and it instantly shuts down and restarts. I do not have time to access anything apart from the desktop as the process only takes at max 5 seconds.

I tried booting in safemode, but the failure still excist.

What happens is some kind of installer for word starts up, and then it suddenly says "Not enough memory"
And my system restarts.
How do I fix this?
(SELF BUILT PC) so I cant simply send it in.

I have no idea of how to fix this as I don't understand software as much as I would like to :(

*** I do not know if the PAGEFILE would have anything to do with this but I have NOT changed / disabled pagefile ***

I have the following:
Windows 7 Ultimate
16GB Ballistix sport RAM (using XPS 1 profile)
ASUS Z87-A tpu enabled
Asus GTX 770 OC
I5 4670K 3.4GHz
C drive: 128GB SSD Samsung Evo 840 Pro
Storage drive: 2TB Seagate Barracuda 7200RPM

And I still have 50GB free space on my C drive.
and 1.7TB free space on my storage drive
I have NO idea what is the reason of this, and NO clue on how to fix it, apart from doing a reset on my pc and starting all over with windows.

I also did quite a bit of googling, but all the similar problems which I have found is fixable by somehow because their PC doesnt shut down instantly - but mine does.. :(

I tried running a memory diagnostic but I never got the chance to read the log due to the instant shutdown. Odd that it found NO errors during diagnostic.

Trying to system restore in safe mode. Will let you know what I find out.

AAH! HAPPINESS! Finally I brought it to boot normally WITHOUT crashing again!

I did a restore to before I updated my Realtek audio (It was the ONLY thing which was affected recently)
- which makes NO sense that it works now.
But it works!
System restore hasn't failed me yet! :D

[strike]The reason it should be 1.5-2X your ram is because when your system gets put into hibernate/sleep, it dumps the what's in the RAM currently into the page file, so it can be awoken from hibernate/sleep without having to do a full reboot.[/strike]
What you might try doing (assuming you have access to another computer and dvd burner) is make a linux LiveCD. That will allow you to boot up into Linux from the CD/DVD and gain access to your hard drive, and you could manually delete files and such.
I'd be willing to wager you caught a virus or something.
MalwareBytes is the best virus removal tool.

This information is not correct. Hibernation uses the hiberfil.sys file to store it's information.

I haven't found a valid solution for the problem, but I have managed to go around the problem. The ONLY program which said it needed more memory was Microsoft Word 14 (2010) - so I simply booted in safemode, set pagefile to 0, rebooted, set pagefile to system managed again. After that I did a system restore to a point where it was working and simply deleted word. Since it's a gaming PC I have no need for word. :)

I think I'll make a teeny tiny pagefile on 1-2GB as recommended by hawkeye - just to have one.
I hear a lot of rumors about deleting pagefile should be better for your boot time - but mine is quite fast already as it is. I see no real time advantage in disabling it completely. (It completely boots up and is ready to go in just over 30 seconds, maybe even 40 at max)
Thank you guys once again for the attention and possible solutions! :)
