I have a standard Intel I5 heat sink installed onto my AS Rock Z77 Extreme 4 motherboard... I tried to remove the heat sink but two of the four latches are stuck into the motherboard, it literally won't budget at all no matter how hard I pull it! Attached are pictures.

Any help, please? Thank you!

I've had issues with stock Intel coolers like this. I've found myself using small needle nose pliers on the clear part of the twisting clip part on the top and turning the black part. If that doesn't work, sometimes if you take a small flat head and push on the black pin from the bottom it will pop out and you can then use a small pliers and squeeze the clear clip part on the bottom together and they will pull out. Chances are you will damage the stock cooler as they aren't very well constructed. I've never been a fan of the stock coolers, especially as of late. I am assuming you are replacing it with an upgraded cooler.
yeah, don't pull really hard as it can cause damage to your motherboard and/pr other components.

Well, the images aren't loading for me but I will recommend some things to try:

are these like push then pull out clips?

You might have to get a Long ish solid item that is thin to leverage the clip away from the motherboard.

I'll update on others if that doesn't work.

You would think these new $200-a-piece pc compenonts will hold up better than they are, haha...

But I tried pushing and pulling, those two latches just won't come out... I'm about to give up and just call it, I will just have to the motherboard stuck to the CPU forever...

P.S. Updated my pictures

Read the manual that came with the Intel processor package. It tells you to turn the latch towards the arrow symbol on the 4 latches of the heatsink. I think it was turning the latches counter-clockwise. It'll pop right off and it won't be difficult. I had the same problem until I read the manual.
