I have ended up with a Compaq dc5850 Small Form Factor PC (AS13/63970) and would like to upgrade it. The video and games seems extraordinarily slow. It came with a ATI Radeon 3100 graphics card - is that my problem, can I upgrade that, and if so what are my not-too-expensive options to fit this odd thing?

I also inherited an external CD burner (as this came with no burner itself) but it is a Firewire connection, and the PC has none. Can I add a Firewire port card like a PCIE, and if so, what kind does this weird PC need?

Any other suggestions for upgrading this PC (it is as it came out of the box)? It has an AMD Sepron LE-1300 processor, 2 gigs of RAM (1/75 available), and runs 32-bit if that helps.

Thanks, all help appreciated.

If you add a decent graphics card to the machine you will get completely bottlenecked by that processor and probably the RAM too, I assume its DDR2.

Personally I would not waste the money buying a GPU yet and save up and buy a new machine or build one yourself.
