EVGA or Gigabyte GTX 770 ? and 2GB or 4GB ? I only intend on one monitor and I do plan on SLI around the time Star Citizen is coming out. Any suggestions or input will be really helpful.

Solution

Either EVGA or Gigabyte is fine (check the noise levels for each), but it is no good getting the heat away from the GPU if it can't then be expelled from the case, so check that the fans and airflow (not just amount but also direction) is sufficient. I have seen people put 4/5 fans in the case, but the airflow conflicts.

Exactly. If you SLI, they have the power to actually take advantage of the extra ram (assuming you go high enough resolution +AA to actually use more than 2gb of vRam. But single card, on 1080p, there is no benefit to getting the 4gb 770.

A gtx 780 would be better in the long term than SLI 770 2gbs then.

There isnt much between them, and any small differences in clock speed can easily be achieved by setting the speed in something like Afterburner or Precision-X.

2GB would be suitable, and as RobCrezz says, you can adjust the clock speed yourself. Often manufacturers put in the extra RAM not because it's needed, but because they let you think it is and charge a hefty premium for it.

Thanks guys. Now I don't plan on doing any overclocking or anything. Maybe as you said Rob, bumping up the base clock slightly at the most. Would i even necessarily benefit from the Windforces 3x fans. Id imagine that the EVGA would be able to keep itself pretty cool?
