Hi,

My 2 year old Thinkpad Edge E420 screen got damaged and needs replacement. I have asked a few vendors who offered to replace it for $60 (Rs 3600). How can I determine whether the screen being offered is a genuine one and does the price offered by him indicates the real price of a original Lenovo screen.

Regards,
Gagan

Hi, the new screen needs to be the same as the old screen. Take out the screen from the lid, and on the back, you have a sticker with the reference of the screen. You need to buy one with the same reference. The reference will start with one of these, B1, N1, LTN1, LP1 or something like that.

Hi,

I found that the part number for Lenovo ThinkPad Edge E420 LCD screen is 04W0418 and Lenovo is asking 4 times the cost for replacing it as compared to the price in local market.

The local market screen is a Chinese local part compatible with this Laptop. The warranty offered by both is 3 months.

I would like to go for a cheaper solution but would the local cheaper part will work similar to the original part. I would be fine even if it doesn't work as good as original but give an acceptable performance.

Thanks,
Gagan
