I am trying to connect a set of turtle beach headsets (older model) to a ps4 controller, but the wiring configuration is a little odd. The ps4 controller has a 3.5mm, 3-ring (mic capable) audio port, but the turtle beach input is a 2.5mm, 2-ring audio port.

The current configuration I have shows that it can read the connection, but no audio is coming out from the mic. The configuration I have is:

3.5mm, 3-ring cord connected to 3.5mm (female, not sure if 2 or 3-ring) to 2.5mm, 3-ring (male) adapter.

Could this be due to the 3.5mm female port not having the 3-ring config, or is this due to the 2.5mm male, 3-ring plugging into a 2.5mm, 2-ring port?

Hi
When you say 3 ring do you mean there are 3 insulating rings around the barrel of the jack plug,if so then this is a 4 pole Jack ie 4 metal sections which would be headphone left and right, microphone and ground.
Now if this is the case I cannot see how the headset can work , with the 2.5mm 3 pole jack as there is no conductor for the microphone .
