ide-sata adapter .

Hai

Well i have a problem with a sata adapter -gembird sata-ide-2
and a hdd- diamondmax plus 9 http://www.recycledgoods.com/search/Maxtor%20DiamondMax%20Plus%209

the PC doesnt recognize it,
but the adapter is working cuz it sees my other sata hdd
and the maxtor is working cuz i tried it on other pc with a direct sata connector
i think its the connectors problem

Give me some advice,good day,

The DiamondMax Plus 9 is an IDE drive, so you are going from IDE to SATA.

Double-check that your switches are set up correctly. See Step 3 on page 4 of your user manual for your adaptor.

so if its a sata do i need connectors?Why are they there?u can see in the img that they are there but its a sata hdd.i dont get it.

The connectors in the images look like IDE connectors to me. SATA connectors do not have as many pins.
What is the model number of your drive? It might start with 6Y.

IDE connectors are longer and have pins. SATA connectors are shorter and don't have pins.

so the question is:What is the purpose of the jumpers,when the hdd is sata?Its cuz of them that my bios doesn't sees the hdd?

The 6Y080M is a SATA drive, so you don't need the IDE-SATA adaptor if your motherboard has SATA ports.
Just connect a SATA cable from the drive to a SATA port on your motherboard and then connect a SATA power cable from your power supply to the power connector on your drive.

If your BIOS doesn't recognize the drive then try connecting the drive to another SATA port on your motherboard.

well the problem is that i have to use an adapter cuz the mobo doesnt have an sata port.

Ok, so you are going from SATA to IDE.
In that case then double-check that you have followed Steps 1 & 2 correctly on page 3 of your user manual for your adaptor.
