Hi, I'm currently looking for a new headset as I currently have a Turtle Beach X12 that has served my well but its time to move on. I've looked at a few headsets and have come across the Astro A40 and A50 the only problem is that the price of them seems through the roof, so do you know of any good headsets at an affordable price with good quality sound for gaming and have accurate positioning that are closed not open air.

Thanks.

I've been browsing through forums and doing research on headsets for the past 3 days and have noticed a lot of people saying that the best option is to down the route of using a pair of headphones and a separate clip on mic although I'm not familiar with the popular and best headsets that feature closed ear and have some sort of noise cancellation.

Headsets are one of those things that are difficult to recommend as everybody is different and everyone has different ears.
A set of Astros may well be the most recommend on the market, but your ears might not like them.
When I chose mine, I tried a few different sets, a few Turtle Beaches, a Logitech pair and ever the legendary Astros. But surprising to me, I didn't see what all the hype was about. Ok, they were good, but not amazing.
I eventually stuck on a pair of Trittons, the AX PRO+/Plus edition. There are many reviews about them, some saying they are terrible, some saying good, some amazing.....
I personally found them extremely good for me. But after a month or two of me raving on about how great they are a mate of mine bought a set...... And promptly returned them as he thought they wasn't as good as he's old headset lol.

It's a tough choice. Maybe think about buying a set, trying them for a few days then returning them to try another. (If your country has those sales of goods laws that allow you to do that with no risk)

Sorry I couldn't be of more help.
