I was digging through the forums but couldn't find an answer so I decided to just ask you guys. I have a Toshiba - 500GB External USB 3.0 Portable Hard Drive (http://www.bestbuy.com/site/toshiba-500gb-external-usb-...) that writes at 50 mbps for a couple seconds then drops to 3 mbps. I first tried it out with my laptop then moved it to my desktop. Even if the ports are usb 2.0, they shouldn't be this slow right? Help please!
I don't think your seeing usb restrictions but the actual hard drive transfer limits it only a 5400 rpm drive so it wont be fast enough to max out usb2.0 speed might as well 3.0 speed. also if you may be seeing windows write cache in action (the buffering of the file to ram before its written to the drive, why the speeds will be all over)
