upgrade pentium to i3

The Pentium Dual-Core T-series is Core 2 based, and as a result, are not compatible with the Core I3, or any other I-series. A Core 2 Duo T-series processor would be about the best you can upgrade to, assuming your processor is socketed. If it is soldered on, there's nothing you can do.

That CPU shouldn't be soldered on as it is not a BGA chip. I went from a T2310 to a T7700 core 2 in my old Compaq. Looking on notebookcheck.com, one variant of your laptop came with an Intel Core 2 Duo P8700. That would be the limit of what you could do. You are probably just better off getting a new laptop at this point.
