Hello guys,

So my local shop gave me a pretty good PC to buy. I want it primarily for video editing but even for high end games.

Well, the CPU is Intel i7-4770 and the GPU is Nvidia GTX 650. I was thinking if it was better to get an Intel i5 CPU and GTX 670 GPU instead.

What do you think?

If you're just going to be gaming, the i5 is good enough. Since you're going to be video editing, I recommend going for the i7, and getting a better GPU from there.

It depends in what software you're going to be editing. Specifically if your software of choice supports GPU rendering. If it does (like MPE in Premiere CS5+) than any of the GPUs will be way more than sufficient and any CPU is just fine as it's there only to make sure GPU is fed constantly with new info.

If you don't plan to use MPE or Premiere at all, or you're just going to use a CPU based rendering software, than i7 makes enough sense to get.

Have a look at this to learn more about MPE/Premiere and CUDA based GPU rendering.

Have a look at this to find out what difference does i7 makes compared to i5:

Generally, performance is fairly close while the price difference is rather wide. Still, i7 can't be beat in performance.

I am going to edit in Adobe Premiere Pro CS. So, s it a better idea to get an i5 and the GTX 670? Because I also want to game sometimes (BF3, Crysis 3?

I'd rather get the i7-4770, but if you're more interested in gaming go with the 670 as it is pretty similar to the 770.

I am interested in gaming. But I want to note that I will do light video editing for YouTube videos; sync audio, add some little effects etc. So? :)

Hey man! In my honest opinion the option that comes with i7 would suit you better, since you want to do some video editing (Hyperthreading etc.) :)  The intel i7-4770 will kick ass in gaming too so dont worry about that :p  You mentioned that you want to play BF3 etc. and this build will play the latest games just fine ;)

Any modern GPU is overpowered to fully use in MPE under Premiere CS5+. Even so, its much faster then any CPU rendering. Since you're also interested in games, getting an i5 CPU and the best GPU you can get makes the most sense, as modern 3d games will gobble up as much GPU horsepower you throw at them.
