Hi guys, first time writing here but this forum has solved many an issue before so hope you can be of help again
Problem:
For the past 3-4 months I have been having constant stuttering in certain games, which happen after 5-10 minutes and does not stop until I quit or load to a new map in certain games (whereupon it starts again after a few minutes). The stuttering makes it seem like the game is running under 10 fps, but fps counters in game and fraps show 30-60.
Games affected for sure: Counter Strike Global Offensive, Guild Wars 2, Battlefield 4, Path of Exile, Skyrim
Games that are not affected for sure: League of Legends, Hearthstone
With Guild Wars 2 as an example, the stuttering starts after 5 minutes on recommended settings (high), and 20 minutes on lowest settings, so load seems to affect it. Guild Wars 2 played perfectly (30+ fps, no stuttering) at high settings 1,5 years ago.
History:
Since I bought the computer (November 2011) I have had a "no hardisk detected" message on startup, but googling it seemed like it was a common thing, and no problems so ignored it.
I also have had blue screens since the start, but it only happends about once a week if the pc is turned on for a long time, seems to happen especially when running Vuze. I don't remember the exact bluescreen message now, but as far as I remember when googling it it had to do with memory (I will try to capture it again asap). The fixes seemed complex and as it wasen't bothering me to restart once in a while I ignored it.
I have had no other significant issues with the computer.
The computer has never been cleaned inside, as to not kill the warranty (bought it pre-built).
Specs:
Win 7 Ultimate
Motherboard: MSI P67A-GD80 B3, Socket-1155
CPU: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-2600K CPU @ 3.40GHz (8 CPUs), ~3.4GHz
RAM: Kingston DDR3 HyperX 1600MHz 16GB
GPU: ZOTAC GeForce GTX 590 3072MB PhysX CUDA
Corsair 120 GB SSD
Western Digital 2 TB HD (7200 rpm)
Also liquid cooling: Antec Kuhler H2O 920 CPU
Things I have tried:
- Checking temperature with RealTemp and Nvidia Inspector (around 50 degrees celcius on both)
- Updating Nvidia Driver (newest)
- Revert GPU Driver (to march 2013 one, before problems started for sure)
- Windows Memory Diagnostic
- Changing Vertical Sync in game
- Disabled Multi GPU Nvidia (this fixed some issues I had with Skyrim earlier)
- Error-Check Harddisk
- Defragment HD
- MalwareBytes Scan
- Changed installed problematic game (Guild Wars 2) from the HD to the SSD
Tested Guild Wars 2 between all of those tries and the problem persists.
Only thing left that I can think of myself is a full reformat, but before doing that I thought I should ask you guys as it's lots of work involved with stuff I would like to keep.
I hope someone can help with this and I would be eternally grateful
If any more information is needed I would be happy to provide it.
