I have a Windows XP computer connected to a network with some Windows 7 and Windows XP computers. For some reason my Windows XP computer has been crashing - completely locking up. The odd thing is when this happens, it crashes the network. None of the other computers on our network can use the internet when that happens. When I power off my crashed xp computer, the network comes back.

What could crash a computer such that it would lock up the network like that?

Update: When the computer crashes without the network plugged in, I could actually view an error message on a blue screen:

"A problem has been detected and Windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer.
The problem seems to be caused by the following file: ati2dvag

If this is the first time you've seen this Stop error screen, restart your computer. If this screen appears again, follow these steps:

The device driver got stuck in an infinite loop. This usually indicates problem with the device itself or with the device driver programming the hardware incorrectly.

Please check with your hardwar device vendor for any driver updatesl.

had a similar issue a while ago, also a windows XP machine, somehow it's network drivers got corrupted, and everytime this pc was turned on, it would overflow the switch thus no one was able to use the network, I'd have to restart the switch everytime it happened.

Once detected the issue reinstalling the NIC drivers fixed the issue.
