I am in the process of installing the Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo,and I have installed the backplate and now I am on the part where you install the X bracket. The screws on the X bracket aren't lining up with the risers! Help!

Yes I have checked that the cooler and x bracket are oriented correctly.

I have watched a few videos of the installation, and none of the people in the video have this problem. The X bracket seems that it isn't big enough to reach all 4 risers. PLEASE HELP QUICKLY!!!

I have a http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131873 motherboard

The bracket does not attach to any of the risers, it has its own screw holes around the CPU socket. That being said it should have been obvious, meaning that's probably not the issue. Can you tell us what kind of motherboard you have?

i was watching that video, and at 24:13 you can see that the x bracket screws line up with the holes… mine don't. I have it oriented in the same way but it just doesn't line up

Maybe if possible, you can take a picture of the not fitting part. It might be easier to see whats up when theres something to look at instead of guessing about it.

I added a guide to my prev post, I hope you didnt miss it.

You installed the backplate, so it cannot be incompatible with the motherboard.

There are notches on the X bracket to adjust for different socket types. It should be very obvious if it is defective, it would be asymmetrical.

If you want to take it off just reverse what you did to put it on.

Sounds like user error honestly.

Just wanted to let you all know i found the solution! All i had to do was apply an EXTREME (i almost thought I was going to break it) amount of pressure on the X Bracket and quickly screw in the screw while holding the X bracket down, then repeat on the other screws. Thank you to everyone who tried to help! :D

Oh, the first time I did that I thought you were supposed to use a lot of force as well. But apparently you aren't supposed to, if you align it properly and BARELY turn the screw into each corner in first (less than one turn, just to make sure it will stay put), you can put it on without much force.

I know this is an Older Post, but I recently today, Just had the same issue and it took me 20 mins to figure this out, but on the X bracket, you can adjust the screws with springs in them, just lift them up and pull them out further or* closer in to help directly line up with the mounting screws that are already attached to your mother board (aka the bracket you have to put in first on the back of mobo). this is for future reference to anyone else with this issue, and could not understand that part of the steps in the manual.. ( They only mention this is a very small part of the booklet and it makes almost no sense with the pictures lmao) But, I hope this will help you in future, so you dont apply all that pressure and possibly damage Mobo...
