Raspberry Pi Fan Controller

Hello there!

I am planning my first pc build and have got my whole components list ready but one thing has stumped me. I can't find a fan controller for 10+ fans. I know, I know, you can connect them to the motherboard or put two fans in one channel but I want full control with no loss of rpm. So I had an idea, I will build my very own fan controller. You may of heard of the '$30 credit card sized' computer named the raspberry pi. I decided I was going to use a raspberry pi and a LCD display and mount it in a 5.25" bay to use for my fan controller. So I did my research and got stumped again.

My main question is:

Firstly: how the hell do I attach sixteen fan headers to the raspberry pi

Secondly: The raspberry pi only outputs 5v but the fans I will use need 12v for maximum rpm. I heard (this may not be true) that on a three pin fan the black and red wires are for power and the yellow wire is for control so is there a way I could only attach the yellow wire to the raspberry pi and then attach the black and red wires to the power supply.

Sorry for making the question so long it isn't a very simple one though.

If you have no clue thank you for reading the question anyway and thank you very much to anyone who answers you probably just made my first pc build experience much better
