Memory mix and match

can you use two different brand memory in a build. I already own 8gig of Kingston but it never goes on sale can I add another 8 gig to reach 16 of another brand

Can try, never a good idea, mixing sets of even the same exact model can be problematic..Best bet is to get a single set of 16GB, but if you need to try and mix sticks, I'd look for the same or a stick like the GSkill Sniper that matches freq, timings and voltage, will prob need to add a little to the DRAM voltage and the MC voltage - if you try and have a problem give me a shout ;)
