When in a busy area in World of warcraft my FPS setting are dropping to about 17fps (eg 40 man group) or in org / shrine of the two moons @ around 30fps
but when flying around / questing am at 80+ fps adravge is 90fps
all on ultra witch is the recommend settings by the nvidia control centre

but some 1 said i might be bottlenecking my cpu !?!

so here is my build:
Cpu i5-2500k 3.30ghz sandybridge
GPU: GTX 770 phantom 2gb (gainward)
PSU 750w bronze
RAM: 16gb 1600mhz
at 1920x1080 resolution
64bit
No SSD Drive

this build should be over kill for wow so why the struggle at times, hope some 1 can help

lol silly of these particular people to say your "bottle necking" there is a lot of different factors that effect this. What add ons are you running? this effects performance depending on how much memory each add on is using, try disabling some and play the game and see if that does not help. The add ons may need updated as well. It is by far not a bottle necking issue.

Even though WoW is a CPU biased game, I highly doubt you are bottlenecking it with an i5 quad core. Likewise I highly doubt you are bottlenecking on the GPU side since the 770 has ridiculous bandwidth (though your MB may be bottlenecking at the PCIe slot (8x perhaps?). Your GPU driver may not like one of the colors that are being displayed on the screen. I had this problem with bright whites on my system playing Crysis, which usually averaged 45-50 fps except in white areas where it dropped to 20 fps.

One way around this I found was to adjust the special effects and turn down the opacity / gamma settings. With those turned down the CPU/GPU was taxed less and things flowed smoother all around. The best part is it doesn't detract from game play.

Also download the latest Nvidia 334.89 driver. It just became available yesterday or today.
