so i just assesmbled my first build and i have yet to install OS but turned on the mobo to see how all the fans were working and it was a bit louder than i thought it might be so with it still turned on i took off the side cover and one by one started pulling fan connectors off the mobo to see if could fine the noisy fan...it wasnt obvious because the whole case was humming, anyway, i have a corsair link connector from my RM850 that i had the 3 pin portion of connected to fan header on my ASUS z87 pro mobo, of course the PS fan wasnt even spinning then but I wasnt sure at the moment...I unplugged it and noticed no change in the noice inside my case so went to plug it back onto the fan header my mobo and fumbled a little bit as i was connecting it there was a small popping sound and electrical arc across a couple pins on the fan header and the connector and a faint burnt smell. Nothing else happened and the mobo still kept spinning all the other fans okay but I'm wondering, is there a chance that would have cause damage anywhwere in my mobo, cpu, power supply etc...? Any thoughts on this? As I said I have yet to install OS and didnt even have a monitor or any other peripherals hooked up at the time so I guess I'll just continue and hope for the best, that I didn't do any permant damage anywhere. any one have similar experience and how did it work out for you? Anything specific I should be looking for as I continue to determine if there was any damage, other than the obvious whether system works when I install OS? [worried : /]

Thanks,
Steve
