Is an extra 24MHz clock speed worth $25?

I am new to PC gaming, so I have a few questions on video cards. I am either getting the MSI geforce gtx 780 twin frozr, or the MSI lightning gtx 780. The price difference between the two cards is minimal, with quite a small price gap as well. I am wondering which one performs better overall; such as which one has the best cooling. Also, would it be worthwhile to overclock either one of these cards? Thanks in advance, and sorry that I am not very smart when it comes to PC gaming.

Save your money and buy the cheaper card. You could easily overclock the card 24MHz more and achieve the same performance. However, only overclock the cards if you're able to keep your GPU temps down. If they run too hot, the overclock will be ineffective, because the programming on the GPU will automatically turn down the clock speeds if it gets too hot. The twin frozr will be cooler though.

If you are sure that the twin frozr fans will cool the card better, then I am going to get the twin frozr. How hard is it to overclock cards? Again, I'm still transitioning from console gaming, this stuff is still a little new to me. You use the driver software to raise the clock speed, right?
  3. 24MHz for $25 would be only worth 15 years (or so) ago, in the days of Pentium @66MHz and Pentiums @90MHz.

If you want to overclock, yes, you use the driver software or you can download an overclocking program. Here's a guide: http://www.overclock.net/t/112/guide-to-overclocking-your-gpu
  5. Google for any reviews which include both cards for a comparison. You really want the lowest temperatures, but not at the expense of noise so check for that too as some cards have a rubbish cooler and just run the fans faster. The performance difference due to 24MHz will be almost zero.
