have a graphics card that blocks access to my PCIe slot. Can I put my wireless adapter card that is designed to fit into this slot into a PCI slot that is next to it? If so, should I expect any difference in performance? Thanks

Look at the ridges in the slots and the gaps at the bottom of the card. The contacts won't match up, and I think the voltage is different, so you'd probably ruin the wireless adapter. It should also have a blank section of the PCB substrate plastic sticking down to block insertion into a legacy PCI slot. However, what motherboard do you have? There might be another PCIe slot it can go in.

Most likely no, PCI slots use legacy pin arrangement. But all PCIe slots are compatible, ver 1.0, 2.0, 3.0. And all PCIe form factors work the same, X1, X4 and X16 are the most common. Essentially if it fits it works. But only PCIe not the old PCI slots.
