I've been having this problem with my video card not outputting a video signal to my monitor. It started out as a fairly infrequent occurrence, but has turned into a daily thing now. I often have to reboot numerous times before it works. The card appears to be receiving power too. The whole build is new, about a month old to be exact.
I've already performed some troubleshooting:
- updated mobo bios
- uninstalled and reinstalled video card drivers
- Tested monitor with other devices
- Other PCI-e devices seem to work find in place of the gpu.
The past few times this has happened, I've switched to on board graphics and had a look in device manager. In there, the graphics card still appears there, but with an error. Opening properties gives the message:
"Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)", with the location reading "PCI bus 1, device 0, function 0".
That's basically where I'm at right now. I was tempted to send the gpu back, but I bought online, and the site charges if they find no fault and have to send the part back. So I was just after some more knowledgeable insight before making any more moves like that. Cheers.
Specs:
GPU - PowerColor HD7870
mobo - Gigabyte B85M-D3H
