So, to iterate at the start, I am a complete noob when it comes to computers and just started to really get into all this overclocking stuff. I am very cautious by nature and I want some expert advice on this so I don't jack up my comp.

My setup is as follows:
MoBo: asus M4A87TD EVO
Processor: AMD Phenom II x4 955 3.2ghz
GFX Card: EVGA gtx 560ti
RAM: 8GB
PSU: Antec TP-650
HD: Samsung HD502HJ ATA 500GB
Cooler Master Gemini II S

I oc'd my cpu to 3.8ghz gradually using amd overdrive adjusting nothing but the multiplier. Ran some stability tests and used prime95 for about 10-15min and i was getting core temps hovering around 58-61C and my cpu temp was around 56-57C. Although I passed in all the tests, I played skyrim for about 15 min and got a BSOD. Booted back up and set clock down to 3.6ghz. Before I do anything else I was hoping someone could let me know if these temps are too high and I just need to get better cooling or if I need to make other adjustments to make it more stable. Obviously better cooling would help but I don't have the money right now. Sry for the long post but I'm new to this stuff and just want to be thorough.

Also, I am oc'ing my gfx card to 915mhz from the base clock of 850mhz. It was oc'd to 920mhz when I got the BSOD. I guess that might complicate things a little.

You want a max core temp of 62 celcius. You also want to run Prime 95 for several hours to determine if your system is stable. Only once you've determined that your system is stable should you overclock your GPU. Your cooling is pretty good but you could buy a better cooler and shave 2-3 degrees off your temperatures. 3.6 might be more realistic for your cpu and cooling since 3.8 would likely require better cooling and manual overclocking in your BIOS.

ok cool thanks for the reply. I actually bumped it to 3.7ghz and dropped my gpu down to 900-905mhz and so far I've been testing it out in modded skyrim and crysis 2 and everything seems to be running excellent. will definitely run prime95 tonight or tomorrow night through to the morning and see how it goes. I have no idea how to manually overcock using BIOS and I would certainly screw something up. the voltage options just scare me lol.

thank you for the help!
