So i bought an AMD FX-8320 a month or so back and it says 3.5ghz stock and 4ghz overdrive, does this mean there is a setting in my bios where it will automatically overclock? is it worth the overclock? i think i could handle the overclocking heat, otherwise. my cpu stays around 45c while intense gaming.

Specs:
AMD FX 8320
ASUS
M5A97 LE R2.0
8gb ram (1600mhz)
Geforce 650ti boost 2gb

Solution
Do not i repeat do not overclock without a after market cooler my 8350 from personal preference ran hot with the stock cooler and if you are already running games at 45c then i would not overclock. I would recommend the hyper 212 as a cpu cooler

The CPU does not do much for games unless you have your graphics set to use the CPU for the physics and even then not much. Yes CPUs can cause bottle necking for GPUs but that is more do to the architecture of the CPU not its speed. So in general over clocking will show a little gain in your games but not huge gains you would see by over clocking your GPU. Over clocking CPUs gives you gains in graphics rendering and editing like photo shop, autocad or mathematical systems. If this is what you are using system for then yes over clock. Most over clockers are enthusiasts who over clock just for bragging rights more than for practicality and just because it is fun.

As for how to do it, just Google over clocking guides and find the right one for your CPU.
