Could I cool a GTX 780ti /waterblock with a closed loop corsair cooler? I'm maybe looking into cooling my gpu as well as my cpu but dont completely want to go with a custom water loop.

I could be mistaken, but I am fairly certain that the closed loop water coolers cannot change the mounting block. If thats the case, then it won't mount on the GPU right. You might be able to rig it to the card and get it to work, but I don't think it would be a desirable outcome. Chances are it will perform worse.

Best if you want to water cool a GPU, then its probably best you build a full water cooler for the system. I don't know if they make closed loop GPU coolers, but I haven't seen any so I am not sure. I haven't really looked either though.

Ive seen it done on some AMD cards, with zipties and ducktape.

However, you may be able to find something like this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835186067R. I have not seen one for the 780Ti, so it looks like redneck all the way or custom loops.

lmfao zipties and ducktape?
Surely that didn't yield better results than just using a regular cooler.

That water cooler for GPUs you posted is probably something like he will want though. Hopefully that will work for him.

The one I posted wont fit the card sadly, its an old gimmicky model.

Yes ducktape and zipties lol. They held the block down on the die and ziptied it though the mounting holes on the board. They got a few C cooler, until it fell off and fired the gpu lol

lol thats insane. I'm crazy enough to delid my CPU, but I would never try that.

Iankiller99 if you can't find a cooler that will fit your card, or afford a full water cooler, you might consider just some better CPU paste. For example, Coollaboratories Liquid Pro or Liquid Ultra. They are expensive for thermal paste and can cost up to $20, but Liquid Pro cools like 7 times better than Artic Silver going by a review Tomshardware did. It could help drop temps quite a bit even if your card already has high quality paste. I have some coming in the mail now, and I plan to put it on pretty much everything from GPUs, CPU, CPU die, and laptop parts.

Thanks for the info, I am now highly considering going custom watercooling with the t-virus resevior and some blue tubing to go with my computer theme. Also, I think that closed loop waterblocks for gpu's would be a really cool idea but nobody is actually making them now. Anyways, thanks guys.

Hey mate, probably too late and im just probably digging up an old thread but have you seen the nzxt g10. It allows you to use a cpu water cooler on a gpu. Unsure if it would suit you but thought i might try help
