Opinion on desktop build.

I'm putting together a desktop for gaming for the first time, with the help of some users on the whirlpool forums I managed to get a decent build together and started looking into purchasing parts, being that I'm in a rural area shipping is expensive so I've decided to drive to the city to get the parts I want. I'd appreciate opinions on this build but mostly I'm looking for whether there are any problems with my build as I don't want to get all the parts and find I can't put it together or it doesn't work.

The build is as follows.

CPU - Intel Core i5 4570 Haswell 3.2GHz 6MB $238

Motherboard - ASRock B85M-PRO4 LGA1150 mATX Motherboard $95

RAM - G.Skill 8GB Kit (2x4GB) DDR3 Ares C9 1866MHz $124

SSD - Samsung 840 EVO Series 2.5" 7mm 250GB SSD $197

HDD - WD Red WD20EFRX 3.5" 2TB 64MB Intellipower NAS HDD $135

GPU - XFX Radeon R9 290 Double Dissipation Black Edition 4GB GDDR5 2xDVI HDMI DisplayPort $599

CASE - Corsair Carbide Air 540 Mid Tower Case w/Side Panel Window $199

PSU - Antec TruePower Classic 650W Power Supply $139

ODD - LG GH24NSB0 24x Black SATA DVD Writer OEM $23

My biggest concern here is whether the power supply is going to be sufficient as I've never built a desktop before and I'm not certain what kind of power it'll need.

Also, the prices listed are in Australian dollars, not american.

Solution
Hey

CPU - Motherboard will fit ( 1150 socket )
Why B85? That has lacks of high speed sata ports, a H87 would be better if you don't want to overclock and you want the most performance.

That ram is pretty good, 1866 at CL9 have the best performance/price rate :)

240 GB ssd is aaaa bit kinda too much, honestly, 120 would be enough, windows would take you 30 GB's and you will have enough room for some applications you might use!

With the graphics card, what are you willing your PC to be used for? 290 got pretty costy latelly, and 4GB DDR5 that's made for 3 or more monitors, I guess you will be using one! In that case a 780 would be more powerfull and a better choise!

650W with a 290/GTX 780 would be edgy.
I would buy a seasonic power...

I would buy a seasonic power supply, they make the best PSU's and give you a good warranty ( had 2 of them and never had any problems over the years )

I recommend Seasonic G 650W, semi modular 80+ gold from the best!

1 TB of HDD would be more than enough for the rest you need, if you do video editing you can buy 2x 1 TB HDD to get the fastest speed! Read from a disc, write to another*

Solution
other than choosing a wd blue hdd the build is fine. wd red is for nas storage so not ideal for constant off on read and writes.
ssd to me is perfect for now. yes windows takes up 30 gig but i found that i install a lot of games and eat up storage very quickly. even with a 500gig partition on my raid i still lack room for some of my more needy apps.
psu is perfectly fine the 290 and 780 both max out at around 250w so 650w is perfectly decent for that setup.
i would however agree in that you should go for an h series board as your cpu is a none k part so you dont need overclocking so get other features instead like higher speed sata as this will help improve transfer speeds especially when you raid your 250gig ssd down the line(you know you want to).

I chose the B85 purely out of suggestion from someone on the whirlpool forums, but I've never tried overclocking so if you think the h87 i can change. There are 3 available for me to pick up, the ASRock H87M LGA1150 mATX Motherboard, ASRock H87M-ITX LGA1150 mITX Motherboard and the ASRock H87M-PRO4 LGA1150 mATX Motherboard. Which one would you suggest.

As for the SSD the price difference between the 120 and the 240 is only $20 because there's a special on at the moment so I figured I can go up a notch.

I chose the graphics card because I intend to use the desktop purely for gaming and it was recommended to me. I'm only using the one monitor so if the GPU I've chosen is a bad choice I can choose another, is the 780 you're talking about the GeForce GTX780 becasue that's the one available for me.

As for the power would I be better off with the seasonic 80+ gold or getting one with higher Watts?

Lastly, with the hard drive I have a tendency to fill up my hard drives very quickly as I'm a bit of a file hoarder, would 2 hard rives be better than 1?

Actually turns out there's a bunch of gtx780's available so I'm not sure which specific one you mean.

H87 doesn't support overclocking.
ASROck are ASUS motherboard but for gaming I guess you know that, pick the one that has SATA 6 GB/s ports and PCI-E 16 etc.
IIf the 240 costs 20% go for it I would get that too if i had such chance!
The 780 will give you 2x more performance and will last you much longer! + it's kepler based GPU wich is used on titan and 780 ti, all games maxed in the next years! Wich I can't say about 760

Seasonic fabricates it's power supplies in it's own factories not in china or something like that! The quality of it's products are the best and they have a legendary rating.
650W will work OK for a GTX 780 + i7 4700, you will have even a 100W wich is the best, not too much ,not too less.

A 780 I would really go for MSI 780, their new twin frozer 2 has great cooling! Very improved from the 1st one, big fans = less noise and overclocked a lot from the box and looks smexy :)

*update :
fanboy of seasonic! but I know antec and they make also good PSU's

fanboi all you want about seasonic at least they earned there rep for quality. my only consern with your comment was the difference in price its quite a bit more for 80+gold and platnum because 650w is the sweetspot atm which means they generally have a higher markup.
