Black Screen when i turn on my comp. (window 8) but can see my cursor

ah rite... normally when people say cursor i think text cursor not the mouse pointer cursor.
in that case try to boot into safe mode. if windows loads then its likely a driver error.
if you can get into safe mode check the event logs as boot errors will show up there even if windows doesnt finish loading..

all i can suggest is you boot your windows cd and do a boot repair (if its win7) if that doesnt work then repair install may be your only
option.

put the cd in
turn the pc on when you see the flash hit DEL go into the bios and set the primary boot as the cd/dvd/bd drive save and quit.
let it reboot and update the dmi then hit any key to start booting off the cd. when given the option try repair boot first.

No it's still like that. I I thought I could maybe fix it myself but I guess I'll just have to tell my dad. He good with these things but I've already have him fix my laptop so many times
