Hi

I got this laptop about 4 months ago, from the gecko the temps were through the roof.
since early December CPU temps started hitting close to 97c while playing CPU heavy games like CS:GO.
Now for a month atleast 1 core hits the 100c mark after just playing for 15 minutes.
For a while I thought that the thermal paste wasn't working, but then I realised that my CPU is running at 3.6Ghz.
I downloaded Intel Extreme Tuning Utility and disabled Turbo Boost. Now the CPU is at 2.7Ghz and the temps while playing games are normal.

Why doesnt my turbo boost go away and what kind of damage can i expect from running my laptop at such high temps over a long period of time.

Thanks.

Turbo boost for most PCs in enabled and disabled in BIOS. It probably got turned on somehow and not turned off.

Some intel CPUs maxx temp is 110c while others are 90c. I don't know what yours are but I would aim to stay below 90c at all times.

Running any PC at too high of temps can cause damage. Most of the time when your at too high of temps you just fry your CPU and at that point you will know if something is wrong. You don't really have anything to worry about untill that happens. Just keep your temps under 90c.
