Hi guys I have a problem and I cant seem to solve it :o  .
Let me start with my system specs:
Mobo: Asrock z68 Pro3 Gen3
RAM: G.Skill Ripjaws 8GB 1600MHz (Yes I have tried both sticks and resitting ram and checked different slots)
GPU: HiS 7790 (Thats the GPU WHEN MY PC DOES NOT BOOT UP has been checked in different pc and it works) however it boots up on my ATI 3450
Processor: Intel i5 2500K stock speeds never overclocked.
PSU: Thermaltake M550W brand new psu (Checked and working)
OS: Windows 8.1 64bit.
I guess the other things dont matter.

I cant seem to go through boot my screen just says no signal when i plug in my 7790 but when I plug the 3450 it fires up with no problem...

Please help I'm really clueless..

More about : wont boot installing ati 7790 gpu

with the graphics card installed try re-seating the ram and see if it works.

Are you plugging in the 6-pin PCIe power connector? The 3450 doesn't need one, but a more powerful card like the 7790 does.

Hi, so your computer wont turn on at all? Or does it turn on but no monitor output? Check if the GFX's fan is running. If it isnt, then there is no power going to your GFX card. Double check all the power connectors from your psu. This happened to me, but i found out that some of the power connectors werent connected to the psu :/

Huh, are all the wires connected to the PSU? The wires might be connected to the GPU, but arent properly conected to the PSU.

Listen I already explained that everything works fine while using a Ati3450 I Only get a problem with a 7790 yes all the cables are connected to both psu and the gpu.

Ok, i think there might be a compatibility issue with that card ant the motherboard. My friend encountered this problem, but fixed it by updating the bios. Before you do that though, take the card out, go into BIOS and enable Legacy mode. Sometimes the card wont work with UEFI mode.

Well my bios is the latest possible (2.30) and I'm not sure how to switch between UEFI and Legacy mode...

Ok, since your bios is the latest possible then that is not the issue. Ok first. before you do anything, make sure to remove your graphics card so it runs on integrated graphics. After that boot up your computer, and press either the escape key, F1, F2 etc, and the delete key. To make it very simple you can just click the restart button on screen while holding shift at the same time. Thats usually what i do and it works everytime. :)  after that, click the trouble shooting option, then UEFI settings. The computer will restart and bring up a menu. Press F10 and it will take you to the BIOS. Use your arrow keys to navigate the BIOS. I forget where exactly it is, but it wont be very hard to find. Once you find the "use legacy mode" option, enable it. Save the changes and exit bios. Put your graphics card back in and see if it boots up. Hopefully this works.

It should not be a motherboard compatibility issue, since that motherboard is still fairly relevant. I suggest booting from the integrated graphics, (no graphics card installed) and uninstalling ALL TRACES of graphics drivers. Then, grab the latest ones off of the website. You can find them here:

Yea, I had this same issue on my computer when i got my new GPU. I see it happens fairly often with AMD cards and i dont know why. My motherboard is also very recent btw.
